You can do it.

A few months ago I was talking to a fellow missionary mom about what to sell and what not to sell of our children's possessions as we prepare to move. She mentioned to me that she makes quilts for each one of her children.  So special.  She said the quilts bring them comfort as they travel and sleep on different beds, in unfamiliar places. I loved the idea and decided I would make each one of my children quilts as well. I've never quilted before and the last time I sewed was in HomeEc class in High School. But all year long God has spoken four words over me, "You can do it."

[the twin sized quilt I am finishing for Maddix- her Christmas gift]
While I was filling out piles of paperwork to apply to be a missionary through WGM, insecurity weighed heavy on me.  Who am I to be applying to do this? I am not a teacher like so many of the women are there.  I am just certified in Massage Therapy. I don't have a Religion degree. I can't. I can't. I can't. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not.
But God can.

As I filled out the paperwork and journaled and prayed God reminded me that He could use my hands to massage orphans, like I did with Ezra at the orphanage when his legs were weak from malnutrition.  He could use all the years of studying the Bible in the wee hours of the morning and nap time and with sisters in Christ on Monday nights to disciple Ugandan women hungry to know the Word.  He reminded me that I know how to love and I know how to encourage.

So we sent in the mounds of paperwork and trusted God for the rest. Over the months of taking faith step after faith step, God opened one door after another. We found out that World Gospel Mission could use Nathan's gifts of preaching, teaching and writing in Uganda and that they could and wanted to use my said my gifts too.

Was it possible that God had designed Nathan and I uniquely for this mission?
Yes, that was exactly it.

[on my way for an interview weekend at World Gospel Mission Headquarters in May]
By God's grace, power and unique design:
I can make a quilt.
I am a soon-to-be homeschooling mom.
I am a missionary.

And so can you.
And so are you.

Are you comparing yourself to others and feel insecure like I did?
God has designed you perfectly and wants to use you.
Has God been speaking to you about leading a Bible Study?
You can do it.
Has God been asking you to go on a mission trip?
Don't be afraid, God will be with you.
You can do it.
Have you been wanting to run that mini-marathon or learn learn a new hobby?
You can do it.
Has Christ redeemed your life?
You have a story to tell.
Tell it.
Someone needs to hear it.
You can do it.
